BALTIMORE (GaeaTimes.com)- The state of Maryland this fall will once again see two stalwarts competing for the Governor’s office in Maryland. On Tuesday night the Republicans trusted the former Governor of Maryland Bob Ehrlich with the task of regaining the Governor’s seat this fall by nominating him the Republican candidate for the gubernatorial election. Bob Ehrlich who held the post till 2006, before being routed by Democrat candidate Martin O’Malley, will once again face him this November.

Although the former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin favored Bob Ehrlich’s rival Brian Murphy heavily, it was the former candidate who came up with flying colors on Tuesday night. Bob Ehrlich was seen leading by 75 percent votes in his favor early on Tuesday with around 76 percent precincts reporting. Brian Murphy, who during the primary campaign tried to drive the vote bank against Bob Ehrlich by going for a negative campaign failed to do so and was seen trailing by around 50 percent votes in the Maryland GOP primary election.

During the primary campaign, while Brian Murphy had tried to project Bob Ehrlich as a Governor who had during his tenure increased the Government spending, the latter went on to state that, if elected, he would lower taxes and create job opportunities for citizens. He held that it is the taxes that discourage entrepreneurs to come up with companies in the state. Bob Ehrlich was the Governor of Maryland from 2003 to 2007 and during his tenure he fought with the legislation to raise minimum wages of employees. According to analysts, there are fare chances of Bob Ehrlich making it to the Governor’s office this fall.
