O’Donnell: Palin backing campaign

WASHINGTON — Senate hopeful Christine O’Donnell says she has the endorsement of Sarah Palin.

The Delaware Republican announced it on her Twitter feed on Thursday.

Palin, who typically uses her own Facebook and Twitter accounts to make such endorsements, had not posted anything to confirm she was backing O’Donnell, a conservative activist. O’Donnell is in a bitter primary against Rep. Mike Castle; the GOP contest is Tuesday.

Radio and cable host Sean Hannity also said on his Twitter account that Palin endorsed O’Donnell on his show. Hannity tweeted that Palin’s call to his radio show was “last minute” and a surprise. Like Hannity, Palin has a contract with Fox News.

Palin, the Republicans’ 2008 vice presidential nominee, has become a coveted endorsement. Her backing of Joe Miller in their shared home state helped defeat GOP Sen. Lisa Murkowski in their primary.
