FLORIDA (GaeaTimes.com)- The man who had been emptying the coffers of his own government and laundering public money has finally reached the place where he should have been long back. Jim Greer, the ex Florida Republican Party Chairman has been arrested by local police authorities and is in jail since Wednesday morning. The 67 year old politician has been found guilty on six counts and if these charges are proved in court, he may face a term of 75 years behind bars.

The charges that have been slapped against Jim Greer by prosecutor William Shepherd are those of an organized scheme of theft, money squandering and defraud. It has been reported that Jim Greer was almost dragged from his mansion in Oviedo on Wednesday and taken to prison. Jim Greer was supposedly shaving when the police authorities barged into his home. The authorities then reported that Jim Greer has pocketed a total amount of $125,000 from the party’s locker. This in spite of the fact that his annual income was $130,000 before he had to vacate his post from the Florida government at the beginning of this year.

Though his total was more than is required to lead a decent lifestyle, Jim Greer used the money stolen from donations given to the Republican Party to suffice his own lavish lifestyle. The entire stolen amount was spent behind five star hotels, expensive gourmets and the private jet planes that the politician used. The fact that Jim Greer was stealing money first came to light in the month of February this year, a month after which he was forced to vacate his chair.
