In Va., Obama visits working class neighborhood

RICHMOND, Va. — President Barack Obama ends a three-city tour to rally Democrats before November’s election in Virginia.

He visits a Richmond recreation center in an established working class, middle-of-the-road neighborhood of Virginia’s capital Wednesday evening.

But Obama will find Virginia this fall different than two years ago when he broke a 40-year Republican presidential election winning streak in the state.

Voters such as retired dentist Charles Pendergrass say they were expecting better things after Obama’s election. Obama visits his neighborhood.

It’s not the first sign of a Virginia reversal.

One year after Obama’s victory, Republican Bob McDonnell was elected governor in a 2009 romp as the GOP captured all three statewide elected offices.
