Grayson says tea party won’t be big voting bloc
LOUISVILLE, Ky. — U.S. Senate hopeful Trey Grayson says he wants to represent all Republicans and not just followers of the tea party movement — a clear jab at his main rival for the GOP nomination in Kentucky.
During a stop in Louisville as part of a trip around of Kentucky, Grayson said Monday that Republican Senate front-runner Rand Paul is “clearly overconfident.” Grayson said undecided voters are moving toward him, not Paul.
Grayson, Kentucky’s secretary of state, predicted that tea party followers won’t make up a big percentage of Republican voters in the state’s primary election Tuesday. Paul, the son of Texas congressman and former GOP presidential candidate Ron Paul, has become a darling of the tea party movement.
