SHINGTON (GaeaTimes.com)- In what turned out to be a shocker on Tuesday night, Christine O’Donnell, a conservative Tea Party favorite, was able to win the Delaware’s Republican Senate primary by leaving behind the party favorite Michael Castle. Nine-term Representative Michael Castle who was considered by many as a more electable Republican candidate failed to gather much votes on Tuesday night as the precincts started reporting. The loss of Michael Castel has strengthened the position of the Democrats who are now riding on high hopes to win the Delaware’s Nov. 2 election.

Christine O’Donnell became the latest Tea Party backed candidate who has made it to the Republican primary. As the grass-roots movement displayed its strength this year, many of its candidates have been able to make it to the primary. However, the win of conservative commentator Christine O’Donnell has left many Republican supporters dissatisfied as Michael Castle has remained a favorite with the voters. The nine-term Representative, was one such candidate on which the party had pinned its hope for the fall election. However, with the win of Christine O’Donnell, many analysts have voiced that chances are dim on the part of the Republicans to recapture the Governor’s seat this fall.

On Tuesday night with almost all the precincts reporting, Christine O’Donnell was seen leading with 53% votes in her favor. The results went on favor of Christine O’Donnell as just few weeks before the primary election, former vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin, Tea Party Express and Senator Jim DeMint announced that they would be backing Christine O’Donnell. It is this announcement that gave a negative turn to the election against Michael Castle.
