Obama to pitch Florida after State of the Union

CLEVELAND — President Barack Obama will take his proposals on the road after next week’s State of the Union address.

White House deputy press secretary Bill Burton says Obama and Vice President Joe Biden will visit Tampa, Fla., on Thursday. Presidents typically head out of Washington after the annual speech to reinforce their message with voters.

Obama is in another swing state — Ohio — on Friday, talking up his administration’s efforts to pull the economy out of recession and restore jobs.

Burton said Obama is still working on the State of the Union speech, which can be expected to draw a big TV audience.
