Qur’an Burning Criticized By Hillary Clinton

WASHINGTON (GaeaTimes.com)- The proposal of the Gainesville, Florida church to burn copies of the Islamic holy book Qur’an has attracted attention the world over sparking outrage from Muslim countries across the globe. After the top U.S. commander in Afghanistan Gen. David Petraeus slamming the decision of the evangelical church explaining that it might endanger the lives of American troops as well as civilians, the U.S Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has also expressed her condemnation for the venture of the Florida based religious organization.
While revealing her views about the issue of Qur’an burning during the iftar party that she hosted in the state department, Hillary Clinton called the proposal as a “disrespectful, disgraceful act” echoing the feelings of a host of other prominent leaders who have been vocal about their protest to the proposal of the Dove World Outreach Center to burn copies of Qur’an. However, the Secretary of State said that she was heartened by the clear and unequivocal condemnation that the initiative of the church has been facing from various religious leaders of the nation from different faiths as well as political leaders. Apart from Hillary Clinton, attorney general Eric Holder has also voiced his criticism for the Qur’an burning plans of the Gainesville, Florida based church.
The Dove World Outreach Center has hogged the limelight after it made the announcement that it intends to burn copies of the Islamic holy book of Qur’an on the anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks to pay homage to the victims of the tragedy. The church has said that the Qur’an burning would take place on its premises this Saturday on the ninth anniversary of the 9/11 attacks.
