Utah state GOP leader says he paid off woman

SALT LAKE CITY — The majority leader of Utah’s House of Representatives says he paid a woman $150,000 to keep silent about going “hot-tubbing” with her when she was minor a quarter century ago.

Republican Kevin Garn told his colleagues Thursday night that while he did not have any sexual contact with her, he paid her to keep quiet about the incident when he ran for U.S. Congress in 2002.

The 55-year-old Garn says that he was 28 years old at the time of the act.

Garn says the woman, who he didn’t identify, has been contacting news outlets and that he wanted to be open about the incident before any stories appeared.

Doesn’t the Utah legislators realize they are going to attract thousands of impoverished, desperate illegal aliens, by diluting the E-Verify verification program? As more and more states enact strict, rigid immigration laws, because the federal government have refused to enforced laws. Illegal immigrants are going to go where immigration restrictive laws are lax and that’s the state of Utah. Look at the broken Sanctuary state of California, that has attracted illegal immigrant families that cannot easily get government welfare in more serious restrictive states.
