Lalu Yadav meets Chapra electrocution victims

CHAPRA - Former Bihar chief minister and Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Prasad Yadav visited Bihar’s Chapra District on Saturday to meet families of victims, who had died after a high voltage live wire fell on a makeshift tent during a religious ceremony.

“Those who died were of poor families. A police report should be filed against those who are responsible and good compensation should be provided to the families, who lost their loved ones,” said Yadav.

Meanwhile, the district administration has announced a compensation of Rs one lakh each for the families of those who have died and Rs 25, 000 each to those who have been injured in the incident.

At least seven people, including three children of Manpur village, died here after the igh voltage live wire fell on a makeshift tent during a religious ceremony.

Residents had gathered inside the tent to pay obeisance to Lord Vishwakarma, the presiding Hindu deity of all architects. (ANI)
