WASHINGTON (GaeaTimes.com)- As many as 87,000 people congregated outside the Lincoln Memorial in the U.S. national capital of Washington which was organized by conservative talk show host Glenn Beck on Saturday. The convention which was termed as the ‘Restoring Honor’ rally was not devoid of a rush of patriotism and as well as a touch of Christianity as thousands of people gathered at the venue cheered boisterously to the speech delivered by Fox network host Glenn Beck as well as Republican leader Sarah Palin.
The main focus of Glenn Beck’s rally was directed towards paying homage to the military forces of the United States, primarily those who had lost their lives or were injured in the war in Iraq as well as Afghanistan. The event was attended by large number of Tea party members many of whom talked about the damage they believed was inevitable for the Democratic government led by President Barack Obama in the upcoming midterm elections that is scheduled to be held in the month of November. During his speech at the rally, Glenn Beck told the crowd that “America today begins to turn back to God” while also pointing out that “Something beyond imagination is happening.”
At the same time, Glenn Beck’s rally also witnessed former vice-presidential nominee Sarah Palin talk to the crowd ‘as a mother, not as a politician’ during her speech which mainly centered on the American military heroes. The Democratic leader further went on to say that the main aim was not to fundamentally change the nation as some people might hope for but restore America’s honor.
