Immigration law brings calls to boycott Arizona
PHOENIX — Calls for a boycott against Arizona over its immigration law are growing by the day.
A coalition of Arizona civil rights groups is the latest to push for a boycott. It follows civil rights leaders urging organizations to cancel conventions in Arizona and baseball’s Arizona Diamondbacks encountering protesters on the road. Even the AriZona iced tea company wants everyone to know that its drinks are made in New York.
Gov. Jan Brewer signed the nation’s toughest law against illegal immigration a week ago. The measure makes it a state crime to be in the country illegally, and directs local police to question people about their immigration status.
Many in Arizona support the law amid growing anger over the federal government’s failure to secure the border.
