Palin dispute raises questions about foundations

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — A controversy surrounding a California university foundation that hired Sarah Palin to give a speech has exposed gaps in the oversight of auxiliary organizations.

The state attorney general on Tuesday announced an investigation into the California State University, Stanislaus Foundation.

At issue is its handling of a contract related to a scheduled Palin speech in June and its refusal to release any documentation related to her appearance.

The probe has prompted renewed calls for greater transparency and financial accountability in university foundations, particularly given their multi-billion-dollar assets.

The nonprofit foundations are subject to university oversight but are not bound by the same public disclosure requirements as the universities. A bill moving through the state Legislature is attempting to close that loophole.

Almost daily we listen to her trash talk (she is in the Quayle and “W” league), all thanks to the man who now claims that he never called himself a maverick, McCain, right, tell us another. She spends her days trash talking it is only fitting that someone found a great place for her contract. You know she is a VP silver metal winner. I guess some dumpster diving found it, All’s Well That Ends Well.
