Obama tells vet he’ll improve VA services

ALLENTOWN, Pa. — A military veteran who’s now a college student in Pennsylvania has taken his complaint about the Veterans Administration right to the top.

The veteran told President Barack Obama at a town hall meeting in Allentown on Friday that he hadn’t been able to get through to anyone who can answer his questions about his benefits under the post-Sept. 11 GI bill.

Obama joked that someone would probably be calling the man “in about two seconds” on his cell phone, now that he’d spoken to the president. But he added that it’s an example of the need to modernize the way the Veterans Administration gets information to the people it serves. And he vowed to keep boosting funding to help the VA improve.
