MUMBAI - The Maharashtra governor Wednesday refused to grant leave to Information Commissioner Ramanand Tiwari, whose son has a flat in the scam-tainted Adarsh housing society, an official said.

“Tiwari had applied for leave from Jan 7 to March 31 but he was not granted one,” a Raj Bhavan spokesperson said.

Tiwari had submitted his leave application following a demand by the opposition for his ouster.

Earlier, former bureaucrat Subhash Lalla resigned Jan 3 as member of Maharashtra State Human Rights Commission allegedly in connection with the scam.

Ashok Chavan was forced to quit as chief minister in November last year after it was revealed that his relatives owned flats in Adarsh society.
