BHUBANESWAR - Orissa Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik said Wednesday that his Biju Janata Dal (BJD) would not be joining the rally against corruption planned by the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in New Delhi next week.

“The BJD will not be attending that rally,” Patnaik told reporters here.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), a major constituent of the NDA, has announced that it would hold a massive rally in New Delhi Dec 22 against corruption along with other NDA partners.

Patnaik said last week that NDA convenor Sharad Yadav had telephoned him to attend the rally even though BJD is no more its partner. The BJD was part of the NDA till the 2009 Lok Sabha elections.

Patnaik had said earlier that the BJP would not support either the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance (UPA) or the NDA.
