Parliament adjourned again as JPC deadlock continues

NEW DELHI - Both houses of parliament were adjourned till noon Wednesday as the entire opposition, protesting over the 2G spectrum allotment scam, demanded a joint parliamentary committee (JPC) probe into the issue.

This was the ninth successive day that parliament’s morning sitting was adjourned over the issue. irtually no legislative business has been conducted since the winter session began Nov 9.

Wednesday was no different from other days. As soon as the Lok Sabha assembled, opposition MPs from the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), the Left parties and other groups began shouting slogans demanding a JPC.

They held placards stating, “We want JPC” and “We want justice”. Speaker Meira Kumar adjourned the house immediately.

The Rajya Sabha also opened amid similar uproarious scenes as opposition members shouted slogans and moved towards Chairman Hamid Ansari’s podium. Ansari then adjourned the house till 12 noon.
