Dem, unions bash McMahon, WWE in Conn. Senate race
HARTFORD, Conn. — The Democratic U.S. Senate candidate in Connecticut and his supporters in organized labor are uniting in their criticism of Republican Linda McMahon and how she has run her wrestling empire.
While state Attorney General Richard Blumenthal on Wednesday was bringing up how McMahon “took home” $46 million in 2009, the year her World Wrestling Entertainment laid off 10 percent of its employees, the Connecticut AFL-CIO accused her of outsourcing jobs to foreign countries.
McMahon was the chief executive of Stamford-based WWE until last year, when she began her Senate campaign.
Blumenthal said voters deserve answers to questions about the company and how it operates.
A spokesman for McMahon said Blumenthal never raised an objection to WWE during his 20 years as attorney general.
