GENEVA — The U.S. has a new ambassador to the United Nations in Geneva, after 13 months without a top envoy at the global body’s European headquarters.
Betty E. King presented her credentials to the U.N. on Wednesday.
Washington’s Geneva mission had been without an ambassador since Warren W. Tichenor left his post on Jan. 20, 2009 — when Barack Obama was sworn in as president.
The United Nations’ health, refugee and labor agencies are based in Geneva.
The Obama administration still hasn’t sent an ambassador to the World Trade Organization in Geneva.
