Policeman killed, 2 wounded in Mexico ambush
MEXICO CITY — One policeman is dead and two others wounded after they were ambushed in the Mexican border city of Nogales.
The police department in the northern state of Sonora says officers were responding to an apparently false report of a robbery at a beer store when gunmen opened fire on them.
Nogales is located across the border from the Arizona city of the same name.
A police statement issued Saturday said the assailants apparently used the crime report to set up the ambush and then fled in two vehicles.
The two officers wounded in Friday’s attack were listed in stable condition at a local hospital.
