Haryana demands four IRBs from central government

NEW DELHI - The Haryana government Tuesday appealed to the central government to sanction four India Reserve Battalions (IRBs), including one Mahila (women) IRB, to effectively deal with the emerging new challenges on the law and order front.
“We want the union government to immediately sanction four IRBs, including one Mahila IRB, to meet the challenges of internal security and to ensure a peaceful and prosperous environment for the people of Haryana. We also want a regional Forensic Science Laboratory in the state,” Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda told a conference on internal security here.
Referring to the new challenges faced by Haryana, Hooda listed the influx and intrusion of illegal Bangladeshis into the National Capital Region (NCR), free-flow of arms in the state and evidence of the Left-Wing extremists getting active in Haryana.
“Our top priority is to stop the influx and intrusion of illegal Bangladeshis into NCR cities like Gurgaon and Faridabad. There has been a steady rise in the number of incidents involving criminal gangs of illegal Bangladeshis. We have launched campaigns to detect and nab them,” he said.
“Easy availability of arms is not only posing a serious threat to law and order, but is also alluring the unemployed youth into the world of crime. Besides, we have got evidence of Left-Wing extremists getting active in Haryana,” said Hooda.
