PM condoles death of CPI leader’s mother

NEW DELHI - Prime Minister Manmohan Singh Saturday condoled the death of the mother of veteran Communist Party of India leader D. Raja.

“I was pained to hear of the passing away of your mother. Please accept my heartfelt condolences to you and convey the same to your family. May the Almighty give you the strength to bear this irreparable loss,” the prime minister said in a statement, according to his office.

Raja’s 88-year-old mother Nayagam died in his native town in Vellore district in Tamil Nadu Friday. The last rites will be performed in Chitatoor village near Pallikonda in Vellore district Saturday.
