Will wait and view Srikrishna report: Kiran Kumar Reddy
By IANSWednesday, January 5, 2011
NEW DELHI - Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy Wednesday said the state government will adopt a “wait and view” policy on the Srikrishna committee report on Telangana that will be discussed by Home Minister P. Chidambaram Thursday.
“Let us go through the report first. Before that I cannot comment on anything,” Reddy told reporters here.
Chidambaram will Thursday meet Andhra Pradesh politicians and discuss with all stakeholders the contents of the Justice Srikrishna Committee report on the statehood issue which was submitted last week but has not been made public yet.
Reddy Wednesday met Congress president Sonia Gandhi, Home Minister Chidambaram and Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee ahead of the report being made public.
Reddy will participate in Thursday’s meeting convened by Chidambaram to discuss the Srikrishna committee report.
Asked about the boycott plan by Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Reddy said: “There are lot of announcements made by each party on Telangana issue. I cannot comment on that.”
The Srikrishna committee was set up in February to study, among other things, the situation in Andhra Pradesh following protests for a separate Telangana state and the counter-protests that paralysed the state.
The committee met over 100 groups including political parties, intellectuals, politicians and retired bureaucrats and visited all the 23 districts of the state.
