We’ll take corruption head-on, Sonia reiterates

NEW DELHI - The United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government will take “corruption head-on”, Congress president Sonia Gandhi reiterated here Monday.

“We will take corruption head-on and demonstrate through our action and not through words alone that we mean what we say,” Sonia Gandhi said in her concluding speech at the 83rd Congress plenary in Burari, in north-west Delhi.

She expressed satisfaction that Prime Minister Manmohan Singh had assured that he would “take forward” her suggestion for a five-point plan to fight corruption.

In her Sunday speech, Sonia Gandhi had outlined an agenda, including fast-tracking of all cases concerning corruption and full transparency in all procurements and contracts.
