NEW DELHI - Several Congress delegates from Andhra Pradesh, including legislators, Monday raised slogans for the formation of a separate Telangana state at the 83rd plenary of the party here.

As Ponam Prabhakar, an MP from Karimnagar, was speaking, legislators Indrasen Reddy and Yadava Reddy, MPs K. Rajgopal Reddy and G. Vivek as well as Kamalakar Rao, spokesperson of the Andhra Congress unit, rose in their seats and shouted: “Jai Telangana”.

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, who was on the dais, did not react.

Prabhakar’s speech did not refer to the demand for Telangana.

Later, the Telangana-supporting delegates spoke to mediapersons outside the plenary hall and repeated their demands.
