MUSCAT - Britain’s Queen Elizabeth II will visit Oman this week, a media report said Monday.

The queen’s four-day visit starts Thursday, the Gulf News reported citing a statement issued by Oman’s diwan of the royal court.

The visit, in response to an invitation from Sultan Qaboos Bin Saeed, would enhance the “historic ties of friendship and cooperation” between Oman and Britain, the statement said.

The queen will be accompanied by Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, and an official delegation that includes Foreign Secretary William Hague.
