Walker wins Wis. GOP gubernatorial primary
MILWAUKEE — Milwaukee County Executive Scott Walker has survived a well-funded challenge by former Congressman Mark Neumann to win the Republican Party nomination in the Wisconsin governor’s race.
Neumann spent more than $4 million of his own money. But he couldn’t overcome Walker, who won the Republican Party’s endorsement in May and has spent years preparing for the race.
Walker will take on Democrat Tom Barrett in the general election.
Neumann is a real estate developer who spent two terms in Congress in the 1990s. He tried to cast himself as a political outsider and branded Walker as a career politician. Walker has been in elective office since 2002.
