Fighting words: UFC chief to speak at Oxford club

LAS VEGAS — The distinguished Oxford University debate club has featured such speakers as Albert Einstein, Winston Churchill and Malcolm X.

This time the British club will have a different sort of speaker — the president of Ultimate Fighting Championship.

The mixed-martial arts group told The Associated Press that the 187-year-old Oxford Union Society has invited Dana White to speak Oct. 13. White says he expects tough questions, and will give straight answers.

The society is known for its ties to the upper tiers of politics. Past speakers include former U.S. presidents Jimmy Carter, Richard Nixon and Ronald Reagan. The late Benazir Bhutto was once club president when she was a student, long before she became prime minister of Pakistan.
