CHICAGO (GaeaTimes.com)- Convicted on only one of the 24 charges against him, Rod Blagojevich had a lot to cheer about as the prosecutors found themselves frustrated by the split jury. In what was one of the most talked about trials in recent times, the drama inside and outside the courtroom resembled the court scenes in Hollywood movies. Known for his showman qualities and ability to work the crowds, Rod Blagojevich may be heading for a retrial soon, according to the prosecutors, but he sure appeared the hero on the big day.

As Rod Blagojevich waved and shook hands with the crowds outside the courtroom, the jurors and the prosecutors heard the former Illinois Governor’s foul mouthed rants about ‘power’ being ‘golden’. He was taped talking about trading the senate seat for a cabinet post and referred to a list of names that included Oprah Winfrey for the post. The judge who described the jury as ‘diligent’ and ‘disciplined’ also said that he will give time to the prosecutors to decide whether they want a retrial. He was almost interrupted by one of the prosecutors who appeared perturbed by the verdict and said that will immediately look for a retrial. August 26 is the date given by the court to decide the manner and timing of the retrial.

Some of the jurors themselves have said that the 6 men, 6 women jury was hung by one of the women who failed to see what the others saw. One of them even said that the people of the state have not been served justice with the conviction. Rod Blagojevich was convicted on the count of making false statements to the FBI and told the media and his fans that he intends to fight the conviction as well.
