AP Enterprise: Fiorina faces fundraising challenge
SACRAMENTO, Calif. — A review of campaign finance data shows Republican U.S. Senate candidate Carly Fiorina at a fundraising disadvantage as she tries to unseat Democratic Sen. Barbara Boxer.
According to a review of recent campaign data by The Associated Press, Boxer raised $17.3 million through June 5, compared to $3.5 million for Fiorina when not counting $5.5 million in personal loans.
The next campaign reporting deadline is Thursday.
Fiorina’s campaign spokeswoman Julie Soderlund says the former head of Hewlett-Packard Co. has been gaining momentum in fundraising since a Field Poll released last week showed Boxer and Fiorina in a statistical tie.
California’s Senate race is expected to rank among the priciest races on record.
The Boxer campaign says it expects to spend between $35 million and $40 million.
