Gunmen kill 4 policemen in southwest Pakistan

QUETTA, Pakistan — Police say gunmen riding on a motorcycle opened fire on a vehicle carrying four police officers in southwest Pakistan, killing all of them.

The attack happened Friday in Quetta, the capital of Baluchistan province.

Senior police official Naveed Ahmed says one of the slain officers had played an important role in arresting militants from the banned Sunni extremist group Lashkar-e-Jhangvi.

But Ahmed did not blame any group for the attack, saying the investigation was continuing.
