Signed & completed: US, Russia close nuclear talks
GENEVA — The U.S. and Russia have closed formal talks on the nuclear weapons treaty signed by Presidents Barack Obama and Dmitry Medvedev.
Their delegations held a final negotiating session in Geneva on Friday and said work was finished on all parts of the deal.
Chief U.S. negotiator Rose Goettemoeller said lawyers would now study the final parts of the treaty dealing with verification procedures and technical details to ensure that Russian and English-language versions are the same.
Obama and Medvedev signed the agreement Thursday in Prague. It shrinks the U.S. and Russian nuclear warhead limit by about a third, to 1,550.
Only the treaty and its protocol have been published.
Goettemoeller declined to say when the annexes would also be made public.
