Obama fills out census form
WASHINGTON — President Barack Obama has filled out and turned in his family’s census form, making sure to include an entry for the First Grandma.
The White House said Friday that Obama supplied information for himself, first lady Michelle Obama and their daughters Malia and Sasha, as well as for Mrs. Obama’s mother, Marian Robinson, who lives with the family.
In a blog post, Census Director Robert Groves noted that living with members of extended families “often causes confusion” on the form.
The White House didn’t immediately respond to questions about how Obama had identified his race. America’s first black president is the child of a white mother and a black father; the form offers options for white, black and “some other race.”
