NAGPUR - Newly nominated Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President Nitin Gadkari received a warm welcome from the party workers and well wishers in his home town Nagpur on Sunday.
Gadkari arrived in the city after assuming the party presidentship.
Hundreds of party workers and supporters eagerly waited for the flight ferrying him from the national capital after meeting senior party leader Lal Krishna Advani.
On his part, Gadkari waved to the crowd as he was taken in an open jeep that was escorted by party workers on scooters and motorcycles.
Despite tight security measures, admirers and party workers had turned up in huge numbers to welcome their new chief.
Gadkari’ appointment as the party chief is the second part of the generational change in the party. The first was on Friday when Advani stepped down for Sushma Swaraj to be elected as the leader of opposition in the Lok Sabha, lower house of parliament. (ANI)
