NEW DELHI - The Delhi assembly Thursday witnessed repeated adjournments following vociferous demands by opposition Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for a house committee probe into alleged irregularities in the Commonwealth Games.

BJP members shouted slogans against Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit and asked her to give details of the Games expenditure.

“BJP members should not protest and instead discuss the issue of full statehood for Delhi as per schedule,” Speaker Yoganand Shastri said.

However, BJP members did not relent and entered the well of the house.

The house was first adjourned for 20 minutes and then again till 3 p.m.

If Rs.200 crore were spent in each of the 70 constituencies of Delhi, the face of the city would have changed, BJP legislator Ramesh Bidhuri said.
