Jayalalithaa exempted from attending assembly

CHENNAI - The Tamil Nadu assembly Monday passed a resolution exempting Leader of Opposition and AIADMK general ecretary J.Jayalalithaa from attending the house on health grounds.

Moving a resolution to this effect, O. Panneerselvam, deputy leader of the opposition, said Jayalalithaa is indisposed and should be exempted from attending the assembly this session as the doctors attending her have advised complete rest.

The resolution was silent on the nature of ailment afflicting his leader.

The resolution was passed unanimously.

Since 2006, when the DMK party came to power, Jayalalithaa has been attending the assembly sessions occasionally. She kept her membership by signing the attendance register once in six months.
