Mayawati’s birthday celebrated in Agra

AGRA - Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati’s 55th birthday was celebrated in grand style here Saturday with 1,400 beneficiaries of various government schemes being felicitated at a programme at the historic Ram Lila ground.

Of the 1,400, more than 50 percent were from the scheduled castes, Chief Development Officer Raj Srivastav said.

A number of buses had brought the beneficiaries to the venue from various blocks, where they were presented certificates by Inspector General P.K. Tiwari, while District Magistrate Amrit Abhijat distributed kits and equipments.

An exhibition, with 17 stalls set up by different departments, projected her government’s achievements and welfare schemes for the poor.

Officials of the panchayti raj department said the camp and the exhibition had been held under the government’s policy to reach out to the weakest sections of the people.
