MUMBAI - Around 400 Shiv Sena and Nationalist Congress Party workers clashed here Monday after an argument over a trade union office premises, police said.

“The clash was sparked off after trade union leader Kiran Pavaskar, who quit as a Shiv Sena MLC (member of legislative council) last week and joined the NCP, went to the union office near the Chhatrapati Shivaji airport,” a police officer said.

“This resulted in the airport authorities sealing the office,” he said.

When Pavaskar, who was heading a cabin crew union affiliated to the Shiv Sena, reached the office, Shiv Sena workers stopped him from entering, resulting in heated arguments between supporters of the two parties.

Some vehicles were damaged as party workers resorted to stone pelting. Police teams reached the spot soon and brought the situation under control, he said.
