GUWAHATI - The concluding day of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national executive meet began here Sunday to adopt resolutions aimed at cornering the UPA government on issues pertaining to corruption and price rise.
“The political resolution would include corruptions and scandals ranging from the 2G Spectrum to the Commonwealth Games, Adarsh housing scam and the Rs.1,000 crore corruption scam in Assam’s North Cachar Hills district,” BJP general secretary Ravi Shankar Prasad said.
The two-day national executive held behind closed doors at a city hotel overlooking the river Brahmaputra is attended by more than 300 national leaders, including chief ministers of the all seven BJP-ruled states.
The first day saw a resolution adopted on the Northeast - with special focus on Assam.
“Stopping Bangladeshi infiltration has been the focal point of the Northeast resolution with a lurking fear that if not checked one day you could have a chief minister in the region who is a Bangladeshi,” Prasad said.
“By and large the northeastern states are ruled by the Congress and everywhere we find pockets of infiltration, terror, extortion and corruption. The BJP has pledged to reach out to all these states and work towards rooting out all evils in the region,” BJP spokesperson Rajiv Pratap Rudy said.
A massive public rally Sunday afternoon is expected to be the highpoint of the two-day meet.
