Tamil Nadu leaders greet people on New Year’s eve

CHENNAI - Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.Karunanidhi, AIADMK general secretary J.Jayalalithaa and other leaders Friday greeted people of the state on the New Year’s eve.
Stating that the English New Year is being celebrated across the world, Karunanidhi hoped that his government will continue to work for the welfare of the poor, increase the state’s wealth and continue to post victories.
Opposition leader Jayalalithaa wished peace and prosperity would prevail in the state in the New Year.
She urged people to resolve to usher in a new democratic government in the coming year.
Conveying his wishes, D. Pandian, state secretary of the Communist Party of India, said there is a need to protect democracy, life and property in the state that is about to face elections in the New Year. Other political leaders also greeted the people on the New Year’s eve.
