NEW DELHI - Congress general secretary B.K. Hariprasad Thursday alleged that Karnataka Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa had provided resources for BJP chief Nitin Gadkari’s son’s wedding party in Nagpur.

Responding to Gadkari’s interview to a newspaper in which he has virtually given a clean chit to Yeddyurappa, who is charged with nepotism in land allotment, Hariprasad said that corruption and nepotism have become the order of the day in Karnataka.

Morally, Gadkari is wrong. The entire resources for his son’s wedding came from illegal transactions of Yeddyurappa, Hariprasad told reporters here.

In the interview, Gadkari had said what Yeddyurappa had done was “immoral but not illegal”.

Hariprasad, who hails from Karnataka, said that Yeddyurappa cannot be let off by merely returning the land that was de-notified and given to his family.

He said the state Lokayukta (ombudsman) was taking action against a large number of people for possessing assets disproportionate to their known sources of income. Can he (Lokayukta) let off these people if they return their assets? he asked.
