PATNA - An MP from Bihar’s ruling Janata Dal-United (JD-U) Saturday questioned Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s move to abolish the legislators’ annual development fund of Rs.1 crore, and demanded the decision be reconsidered.

Rajya Sabha member Upendra Kushwaha said it was not proper to abolish the legislators’ fund meant for development activities.

“I am not in favour of abolishing the legislators’ annual fund for development,” he said, reacting to the Bihar cabinet’s Friday decision in principle to abolish the fund, popularly known as MLAs’ (member of legislative assembly) fund.

Kushwaha said he will demand the decision be reconsidered.

Early this week, Nitish Kumar mooted that the fund scheme be scrapped as it was being misused.
