HYDERABAD - Andhra Pradesh cabinet minister Vivekanada Reddy said on Thursday there was no rift between him and his nephew Jagan Mohan Reddy, who recently quit the Congress party.

Reportedly, Vivekananda Reddy arrived at Jagan Reddy’s residence, in Hyderabad, to sort out the strain in their relations, and take the blessings of Jagan Mohan Reddy’s mother, Vijayalakshmi, for his new role as a cabinet minister in the state government.

On Wednesday, Jagan Mohan Reddy clarified his stand on the ties with his uncle, Vivekananda Reddy asserted there was no rift between the two, and that they were still ‘family’.

Soon after Vivekananda Reddy walked out of his nephew’s residence, few supporters of Jagan Mohan Reddy agitated against the cabinet minister, urging him to step down from his post.

Shouting slogans, the protestors soon turned violent when they intercepted and tried to assault Vivekananda Reddy’s car.

Vivekananda Reddy then stepped out of his car and confronted the agitators and demanded they end the demonstration.
