Left activists protest Obama visit

MUMBAI - Holding aloft red flags and placards and shouting “Barack Obama, Go Back”, around 100 Left activists gathered here Saturday to protest US President Barack Obama’s visit to India.

The protesters gathered near Churchgate Railway Station in south Mumbai and shouted Barack Obama, Go Back, Manmohan Singh, Come to Your Senses and Down with American Imperialism”. They were gathered under the banners of Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) and Communist Party of India (CPI).

A posse of policemen kept a tight vigil on the protesters.

Obama, accompanied by his wife Michelle, arrived in Mumbai Saturday on a four-day India visit. He will arrive in New Delhi Sunday.
