WASHINGTON - US Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton Friday condemned WikiLeaks apparent plans to release hundreds of thousands of classified documents related to the war in Iraq.

Clinton said the leaking of the documents should be condemned in the “most clear terms” because it could place US soldiers and other personnel in danger and threatens US national security as well as that of “those with whom we are working”.

WikiLeaks has scheduled a “major” announcement for Saturday morning, but media reports about the content of the documents are expected to emerge in the next several hours.

WikiLeaks angered the Pentagon in July by releasing more than 90,000 documents connected to the war in Afghanistan it had obtained. While the documents contained little information that hadn’t already been made public, the Pentagon worries it could place lives in danger by revealing sources and methods.
