AP names Foley as Iowa City correspondent
DES MOINES — Ryan J. Foley, an Associated Press reporter in Madison, Wis., has been named Iowa City correspondent.
The announcement was made Thursday by Carol Ann Riha, Iowa Chief of Bureau.
Foley, 29, started his career with the AP in Des Moines in 2004, where he helped cover presidential campaigns and the Iowa Caucuses, as well as other breaking news.
In 2005, he became a beat reporter in Madison, covering the University of Wisconsin and the state legislature. He is a two-time Beat of the Week winner at the AP, most recently for his coverage of allegations that a Wisconsin district attorney had sent sexually suggestive text messages to crime victims.
Foley is a University of Iowa graduate and a Davenport native.
