CHENNAI - The Congress will fight the 2011 assembly poll in Tamil Nadu in alliance with the DMK and win more seats, party general secretary and Tamil Nadu in-charge Ghulam Nabi Azad said Tuesday.
He said the party’s alliance with DMK is strong and warned party men about speaking against it.
“Congressmen have to be ready to face the elections and action will be taken against those who cross limits while talking about the coalition,” Azad told reporters after attending a party meeting here.
Former union minister E.V.K.S. Elangovan has been voicing strong views against the alliance with DMK.
Azad was here to discuss matters relating to the forthcoming visit of Congress president Sonia Gandhi next month to Tiruchirapalli for addressing a public rally there.
Meanwhile, general secretary Rahul Gandhi will be visiting Tiruchirapalli Nov 19 to address the Youth Congress cadre.
Youth Congressmen will take out procession from Coimbatore, Kanyakumari and Chennai Oct 2 and traverse all the districts before congregating at Tiruchirapalli Nov 19.
The Tamil Nadu Congress Committee had convened a meeting of its leaders here to discuss about the rally and mobilising a large number of cadres.
