Swedish gov’t loses majority, far-right kingmaker
STOCKHOLM — Preliminary results show a far-right party has entered the Swedish Parliament for the first time, spoiling the center-right government’s majority and plunging the country into political disarray.
Results from 99 percent of voting districts show Prime Minister Fredrik Reinfeldt’s four-party coalition winning 172 seats, three short of a majority in the 349-seat legislature.
The left-wing opposition got 157 seats and the anti-immigration Sweden Democrats 20 seats after Sunday’s election.
