Sen. Mikulski gets Maryland Dems’ nod; 11 GOPs vie
BALTIMORE — Maryland’s Barbara Mikulski has won the Democratic nomination for a fifth term in the U.S. Senate.
Eleven Republicans are vying for the right to challenge the Baltimore native who says straight talk and hard work are the keys to her victory.
Mikulski had 84 percent of the vote with 2 percent of precincts reporting Tuesday. Her closest competitor, Christopher Garner, had 7 percent.
Mikulski says that regardless of who she faces in November, voters are looking for plain talk about jobs, education and making government work more efficiently.
