KUALA LUMPUR - The Telugu Association of Malaysia (TAM) is reportedly organising the largest gathering of Telugus in the country on October 8 this year to show support for the 1Malaysia concept started by the Prime Minister Mohammed Najib Tun Razak.

According to The Star, the event, termed as “An Evening with the Prime Minister” would be held at the Putrajaya International Convention Centre.

“The highlights would include an expo and cultural performances by local and foreign artistes. About 10,000 Telugus are expected to turn up,” TAM President Dr Achaiah Kumar Rao said.

Najib and India’s Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Konijeti Rosaiah Garu reportedly will be the guests of honour.

The ultimate objective of 1Malaysia concept is to achieve national unity among its people. It serves as a prerequisite to ensure realisation of the country’s aspiration to achieve a developed nation status by 2020 if it is assimilated in the people and practised by society. (ANI)
